Meet the Fashion Bloggers Lydia Elise Millen

23 January 2014

In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Lydia Elise Millen.

Hi Lydia, tell us a little bit about youself.

Hellooo, I’m Lydia from LydiaEliseMillen.com I’m a student in my final year at Northampton University, part time model and a fashion blogger!

Why did you initially decide to start a blog?

It still shocks me when I tell people this story but I literally had no idea what I was starting when I signed up to blogger, I’d never read a blog in my life. However I knew people were getting seriously bored with my constant posts on Facebook containing my most recent lustings so I thought I’d put it all in a place where people could CHOOSE to visit, and with the help of a number of amazing bloggers I stuck at it and things are going really well :) Yey me!

What is the story behind your blog’s title?

Well when I started it I had a really cringy title which I’m not even gonna tell you about because I’m mean like that ha-ha but I’m also not creative enough to come up with some of the amazing titles that other bloggers so I just thought I’d take the easy route, slap my name on it and hope that in some way it may make the parents proud.

If your blog had a mission statement, what would it be?

“It’s just fashion!” Because, quite frankly it is…there isn’t much else to it!

How would you describe your style?

Oh I always hate answering this question because my style changes constantly but right now I’m loving all the 90′s grunge inspiration going down as I grew up listening to the bands who made that style cool. Give me anything black and leathery and I’m a happy camper!

Who are your favorite designers?

High fashion designers are completely out of my price range due to me being a poor student, so if I spend too long lusting after them I’ll find myself in a bank somewhere opening a credit card account and wondering how I ended up with all these Chanel bags. But the brands that are really doing it for me these days are the likes of Mink Pink, Style Stalker, One Teaspoon and American Retro

Who inspires your wardrobe and why?

Everything inspires me, shop windows, old photos of my family (the family’s got style), the weather, music etc etc so it would be too difficult to say one person because everything inspires me in a different way!

What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?

The best aspect is the community and the amazing brands that we get to work with being a part of that community, some might be shocked by that but I really enjoy the relationships I’ve built with some of these brands….They’ve got killer banter!
The hardest part I would say is the juggling and justification of it all, if I had it my way I’d have this as my career but that doesn’t happen often so it’s justifying how much time can be delegated to keep your blog running to its full potential….I guess?!

What clothing item would you say is timeless?

I think we all know a Chanel 2.55 won’t be going on sale any time soon, know what I mean?
