Wimbledon is one of the most prestigious events in the world of tennis.
The competition takes place every year in London, and has pretty ancient origins linked to the French "jeu de paume". Two centuries ago this sport aroused the interst of the All England Lawn Croquet Club that soon changed its name in "All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club" and in 1877 organised the first tennis competition establishing a new code of rules: it was the first Lawn tennis Championship edition.
The beginning of the competition, that starts in June and ends in July, is preceded by the most awaited event in the world of tennis: the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party that, as tradition requires, is held on the Thursday before the opening of the competition, at the Kensington Roof Garden, in London, where female participants warm them up challenging each other to a style battle on the red carpet.
And this year was even more spectacular since Ralph Lauren and its guests toasted to the brand's tenth anniversary as Wimbledon Official Outfitter.
But now, starting from Maria Sharapova until Serena Williams, enjoy our rank of the ten best outfits!
#1- Eugenie Bouchard
An angel in total white thanks to her long dress with a backless halter. Chapeau!
#2- Ana Ivanovic
Beautiful in her cut-out dress in vibrant blue, with a dizzying slit, even if we would have expected something more compared with the wonderful dresses she showed off in the past editions.
#3- Maria Sharapova
She looked very sophisticated in her mini dress with floral embroideries and transparencies designed by Valentino.
#4- Daniela Hantuchova
Simple in her cerulean pleated dress that elegantly wrapped her curves.
#5-Angelique Kerber
Lively and classy in her black and white pick: a blazer, a pleated top and a wide skirt with a maxi print. A cool and stylish choice!
#6- Laura Robson
She looked young and trendy in her mini dress with scuba effect fabric designed by Alexander McQueen, combined with the Cora Heart pumps by Christian Laboutin and the iconic satin Skull Box clutch again by Alexander McQueen.
7#- Ajla Tomljanovic
Wonderful in her total black outfit: she was simple and super classy at the same time thanks to a backless black jumpsuit, with flared pants and a further touch of style: the Knuckle Clutch designed by the wonderful Alexander Mcqueen.
#8- Sabine Lisicki
Even if she made a little mistake choosing a vermilion red, that it wasn't the rightest pick for her skin, she looked stunning in her red dress made of paillettes, combined with the golden Degraspike shoes by Christian Laboutin.
#9- Serena William
A natural beauty that doesn't need to add any frills. However she was too simple for such a glamour event, with her blu navy skater dress and her plated heels.
#10- Andrea Hlavackova
She was just flawless: the peplum dress in coral underlined her shape and tan. Although her shoes weren't perfect as she was.
