Maria, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.)
Hello! My name is Maria. I’m from Moscow, Russia. I work as a fashion editor and stylist and also I’m a half of KYKLAMASHA blog. Together with my beloved boyfriend I started the blog one year ago. I’m a Gemini. I’m still afraid of the dark. I have obsessions with Russian literature and old-fashion photography. My favourite color is white. My favourite fashion areas are the 60′s and 70′s.
How would you define your style?
My style is an expression of who I am. My style is always picturesque, but pure; minimalist, but without forgetting the small details which make a clothing item special. I think my style is always young and fresh, but with a classic twist. Most of what I wear is my own design, vintage or customized.
What inspired you to start a style blog?
What motivates you to keep blogging? My boyfriend and his own photos inspired me in the beggining. What else? Love, traveling, my family and my friends inspired me as well. My readers and my followers, every single comment motivate me to keep blogging. It’s amazing how many great people I’ve met thanks to KYKLAMASHA.com!
How did you choose the name of your blog?
KYKLA (kukla) means “the doll” in Russian language. MASHA is a short version of my name.
Who/what inspires you?
Everything in general and nothing in particular: from there, it could be people on the street, a movie from the 70′s, Mademoiselle Chanel and/or a Brodovich exhibit… I’m constantly watching what surrounds me. Any stimulus can be a valid inspiration.
What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
I love dresses. My favourite dress was made in faux-suede in beige color. It suits me perfectly. I think this dress is timeless and feminine. This dress inspired me to create my own fashion brand.
What is your top fashion tip?
Silhouette and proportion are top priorities. Don’t think about fashion trends, just think about your unique style.
What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?
Be yourself or a better version of yourself.
Your first thought in the morning?
Let me quote the song “Touch me” by THE DOORS:
“I’m gonna love you
Till the heavens stop the rain
I’m gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you” .
I’m a very romantic person by the way.
What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
Travelling, drawing, writing, dreaming. I can’t imagine my life without art, books and music. I can’t live without creating something… for now it is my own little fashion brand.
For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
Paris.
What message do you hope to send to your readers?
I want my readers and followers be always inspired by their lives and surroundings. I’m quite sure that beauty is in the eyes of beholder, so let your eyes will be always widely open to beauty.
