In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Laureen of Break My Style.
Tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
I’m actually a 22-year-old actress/entrepreneur/blogger from Manila. I’m part of a tv series called “My Binondo Girl” and for a living I have a small business Stylebreak that started online and is now inside malls. Everyday though, when I have the time,I make random posts on my blog.
How would you define your style?
I’m still very experimental, but this 2011, I see myself loving prints and pastels. I’m not girly, but I’m not grunge. I’m still trying to solidify my look.
How did you find your sense of style?
By experimenting and experimenting. I think I’ve tried all the looks I can: preppy, edgy, rocker, glam, etc.
What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
It was actually a birthday gift for myself last October 2010. I wanted to start a visual diary and keep track of my fashion sense. So that even 5 or 10 years from now, I’d still get to see the looks I’ve done.
What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?
That I changed her life because of my blog and my fashion. She told me she didn’t like dressing up and that she didn’t have any confidence, but when she saw my blog her shyness went away. She now dresses up and it changed her life. Some people may think dressing up is so shallow, but it’s a way of showing your inner self to the world, and you’re sharing a part of you out there. It makes you more confident.
What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
A bright balenciaga bag, mide waist shorts, sheer/ printed tops and YSL tributes
What is your top fashion tip?
Always wear heels.
What importance do social networks have for you?
I have an online website and a blog, so if you ask me- my career and my job is because of social networking. I believe it’s still going to grow and grow.
Your first thought in the morning?
“I’m so late.”
How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?
Believe it or not, people here are very fashionable and trendy. We follow the latest trends and a lot of people like to dress up in the Philippines.
What message do you hope to send to your readers?
