In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Bimbi of Dotgirl.
Bimbi, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
My name is Bimbi Di Stefano (it’s actually my nickname. My real name is Giuseppina). I am 35 years old, almost 36, born in Catania but Pavese by adoption. I have been living here in Pavia for almost 20years. I graduated from the prestigious Marangoni Institute in Milan in Textile Design. I have always been a lover of fashion, and I had numerous opportunities of exploring this world which is my passion and consequently it became my work.
How would you define your style?
I define myself, as many do too, as a chameleon. I love to continuously change my look, experiment with new ones and play around with fashion. But if I need to define my look, I’d say I’m punk chic.
How did you find your sense of style?
I truly believe that every one of us has something special inside. Time, experience and most probably a selection of special people teach you to give the best of yourself to whatever you’re doing. Then it’s all a matter of practice. I learnt to have my own style, but there is never an end to improving oneself.
What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
After becoming mother and wife, juggling my time became even more complicated, therefore after a few years of temporary jobs, of which a personal shopper, I decided to create this blog. The purpose of this blog, is to be a fountain of inspiration for fashion-lovers, and for those who know little of this world but who would like to discover more.
How did you choose the name of your blog?
When I worked in India for prestigious fashion brands, the Indian children of the villages seeing my freckles, used to call me DOT GIRL. I have always liked this nickname and now use it as my lucky charm. And it is for this reason that my blog is called DOTGIRL.
What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
In winter, I particularly love my coats. I love to change them frequently, but of course I can never give up my bags and shoes (they are my vice!!!)
Your first thought in the morning?
I am a mother, so my very first thought in the morning is to get up quickly, get ready, have breakfast and take my son to school. In the meantime I think about what I’d like to wear, especially when I need to prepare myself for work appointments or a photo shoot.
What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
I love sport, so in my free time I like to go to the gym because it relaxes me and eases my tension. I think that mind and soul need to stay in constant balance with one another.
For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
I have always had a great passion for London. I pop over there whenever I possibly can because I always find something that inspires me there. Last summer I went to Berlin for the first time, and I fell in love with the city; a forever growing city, full of fashion trends and ideas, a fun and cheap place to shop. I hope to return there again soon, because I fell in love with Berlin.
What message do you hope to send to your readers?
Experiment with yourselves and play with fashion. Fashion is everywhere, but most importantly in Art; a fountain of inspiration. You need to study art in its past, to be able to understand and appreciate the fashion of today.
