Meet the Fashion Bloggers Fab Gab Blog

23 January 2014

In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Stella of Fab Gab Blog.

Hi Stella, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).

I’m a fashionista with an eye for style. My passions include: anything having to do with fashion, home decor, art, and event planning.
Besides having written for online magazines, I’ve managed events and PR for various fashion clients, directed multi-million dollar events, and am always on the search for the latest and greatest. Fashion Week is my favorite time of the year and for the past 13 years I’ve attended NYC fashion week, in addition to LA Fashion Week, and Dubai Fashion Week. I also enjoy the art scene, am constantly in home makeover mode and am inspired by the stylish events, people and places that make up NY. Needless to say, I’m completely obsessed with all things style.

How would you define your style?

Girly Glam. My style is feminine, sophisticated and pulled together. I like ladylike touches like nipped in waists, bows, and ruffles but contrasted with something edgier like a fitted leather jacket or a spikey cuff. I love fur, accessories, handbags and shoes. I don’t believe an outfit is ever complete until it is accessorized!

How did you find your sense of style?

My style has evolved over time. As a kid, I was naturally very visual and strongly attracted to beauty. I found myself fascinated by all things fashion, interior decorating and beauty so I soaked up every fashion magazine I could get my hands on. Nowadays, I’m inspired by fashion blogs, NY fashionistas, makeover shows as well as magazines.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?

Blogging is the perfect outlet for my obsession for all things style-related. It’s where I share my outfit details, event planning inspiration, and collect / share my favorite images. I saw teens who were successful doing it and thought that I could do the same, only better!

How did you choose the name of your blog?

I wanted something short and memorable. Fab Gab rhymed and encompassed all the fabulous topics that I would be discussing (fab decor, fab finds, fab fetes, etc.) so it just seemed like the right choice.

What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?

I love to hear about how I’ve inspired others, and given them new ways to style things. One of my readers, Ariana, wrote “i love your fashion style! found the link to your blog on a comment left on a marie claire website. you’ve given me some great inspiration / ideas on what to wear. I have NO fashion sense whatsoever and am trying to find appropriate work attire. I have printed out some of these pics on this post and stuck them on my ‘inspiration board’ haha. i hope you don’t mind”.

Who/what inspires you?

My latest inspiration source is Pinterest. I’m a little addicted. Okay a lot addicted. If you’re wondering why, you can follow me at Pinterest.com/fabgabblog! If I had to name one celebrity whose style inspires me, it would be Olivia Palermo. She has a refined look and I’m always intrigued by her style – I just wish I had her shopping budget!

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

My favorite pieces would have to be my Chanel purses. I’ve started a little collection. The clothes, come and go and they go in and out of style. But these Chanel splurges are luxurious classics and they make me happy just to view them. They’re timeless and take my outfits to the next level. I could be wearing an outfit from a discount retailer but combined with the Chanel purse, you’d never know!

What is your top fashion tip?

Know yourself and know your body. It’s obvious but not all trends should be followed. It’s important to learn how to take what’s on the runway and make it work for yourself. Pick and choose by first taking into consideration what suits your personality and body type. Learn how to emphasize your body’s positive traits and de-emphasize the negatives. If you don’t know how to do this already, start DVR-ing some makeover and styling shows and/or pick up a book on styling for your body type -there are tons out there!

What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?

Everything you need to know you can learn for free on the web. There are multitudes of online sites and videos that taught me everything I needed to know. Aside from the technical stuff, have a clear vision of your blog’s brand. Who is it targeting, what running thread will run through the blog’s content and how will you create a consistent look and feel? I have more advice for bloggers looking to promote themselves but they’ll have to vote for me and contact me separately first! :)

What importance do social networks have for you?

As a blogger, I was hesitant to start up Facebook even though I’m a frequent user on a personal level. I just wasn’t sure I’d have the time to upkeep it in addition to working on my blog, keeping up with my emails and all the other personal stuff that take up my downtime. I just activated the Facebook this week so I invite you all to like FabGabBlog’s new page at
