Meet the Fashion Bloggers The Gipsy

23 January 2014

In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Elin of The Gipsy.

Hi Elin, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).

Crazy baglady, shoefreak, fashionaddict, sunglassfanatic and unintentional lipstickeater – my name is Elin, I’m 17 years old and there is no such thing as too high heels, too sweet coffe or too many clothes.

How would you define your style?

Unidentifiable, experimental, boho-influences and very much ME – that is, everything and nothing, and anything inbetween!

How did you find your sense of style?

I guess in many ways I’m still looking for my very own style-voice, but hey – that’s a style in itself, and I love to jump between different styles!

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?

Too many people nagging me to do it, haha! Nowadays I love it though, and I wouldn’t be anything without my readers – they motivate me and… Well, I don’t really know, I just have a special place in my heart for all those people that keep visiting me every day. Nothing is more inspiring than love! They’re the best, and they know it.

How did you choose the name of your blog?

Oh, how much crap I’ve had to take for my blogname over the years! “The Gypsy” was at first just a word I found really beautiful, and despite my eager tries to get rid of it, somehow it has always stuck with me and now it’s a part of me. I think it’s very suiting – I move between styles like a gypsy between places, and my style sometimes resemble “gypsy”-style.

What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?

I have no idea. I get happy so easily when reading my comments, haha!

Who/what inspires you?

People that do the things they love to do. Love is very powerful, and I find it so inspiring.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

At the moment:
A fringebag from Cubus – It’s beautiful.
A pair of vintage Riverland-boots – I will never tire of them.
An oversize, sporty, grey sweater from the men’s department – Somehow, it goes with literally EVERYTHING!
Then, of course, we have the leo faux furr coat, all of my flared pants, my crochet vest and my summerdream dress with wild strawberrie vines….

What is your top fashion tip?

You have to FEEL it to truly WEAR it.

What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?

Just have fun, this industry means so much work once you truly get into it – enjoy all the highs before you get to the lows!

What importance do social networks have for you?

None, really… I had my facebook deleted and never sat my foot on twitter, I just prefer to speak face to face with the people I want to talk to, but I really should get better on social networking! But I guess it’s just way to comfy having nothing but a blog to care about, haha!

Your first thought in the morning?

“OH GOD PLEASE LET ME SLEEP!” or “I wonder if there’s any food in the fridge”.

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?

I like watching series, cooking, baking, reading, photographing and dream away. Quite honestly though, the blog takes up a lot of my time…

For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?

New York!

How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?

There are some people here who are truly interested in fashion, but this is a very small town on the country and most people just go with the flow and not very many “new” ideas are born here sadly…

What message do you hope to send to your readers?

I just want everyone to know that fashion is about FUN, about FEELING it and daring to follow your impulses despite what anyone else says!
