Today our featured bloggers are the wonderful Paris and London of The Mad Twins.
Tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
We are Paris and London, a creative twin living in Belgium, Antwerp. We are 19 years old and started blogging in 2011. We want to create our mad world, and others may join it. Besides spending time on our blog, we also study. London is studying art teacher and Paris is studying Social Work.
How would you define your style?
We would describe our style as dreamy, elegant, but it’s also colorful and playful. We always try to keep our outfits cheerful or romantic/ vintage. Usually we do not chose dark outfits unless we feel like we have to.
How did you find your sense of style?
Before blogging, we must admit we weren’t really interested in fashion. We loved dreaming and looking up to celebrities, especially Keira Knightley. Later we started to observe her style and became more interested in fashion. Thanks to a friend we discovered other bloggers and we knew we wanted to blog as well. You became inspired by more blogger and our style began to grow.
What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
We started blogging, a year ago, and we think it was because we wanted to show the things we were interested in. Not only fashion, but also art, stories and events. It’s a dairy blog, a dream where you can live in. We keep blogging because a world doesn’t suppose to end before it even has lived.
How did you choose the name of your blog?
We were twins and people often called us mad. We try not to take life to serious and try to make it funny, dreamy and yes, even mad. What is the word without a little madness?!
What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?
It’s hard to take just one comment. We think there are so many lovely comments. We see every comment as a gift.
Who/what inspires you?
In the beginning we got inspired by Alice In Wonderland. She still inspires us now, but less then before. We also adore the peter pan stories with Tinkerbell. In general we just get inspired by Disney movies. We love Dinsey a lot! The fashion of the 18th century inspires us also. We adore it very much! Everything in that art can inspire us as well and we think ballet still influence us as well! The tutus, elegance, the whole atmosphere.
What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
The green maxi skirt from Mango! The laced dress from Zara. The vintage dress with flowers. The soft pink maxi dress from H&M. The smiling bag from VJ-Style.
What is your top fashion tip?
Maxi skirts are certainly back this spring and summer and we totally think maxi skirts rule! What we also adore, are the lose blouses and not forgettable, the peter pan dresses. Color blocking in spring and summer is also nice! Who doesn’t love bright colors?!
What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?
First of all, be yourself! Don’t change your style for others, your styles has to be a reflection of who you are. We also think a good layout is important. Your first impression has to be good, because first impressions stay and influence the rest of your blog, but still don’t change your style, it has to be yours. That’s the special touch, and nobody will have the exact same style as you, so that makes it unique! And don’t say it isn’t important, bloggers with a good camera score higher. A good picture says it all.
Your first thought in the morning?
We don’t want to wake up. One minute more, two minutes? “Yes mam, I’m coming!”
What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
Dance and singing, making art, DIY’s, chopping, organize events with friends; like a lovely pick-nick in a special theme. Collecting tea sets, doing crazy, taking pictures, playing with the cat and dog, and dressing up. Ow, going to school!
For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
Paris, definitely. We went to Paris fashion week and we were so surprised by all the fashionable people who walked there! Really! Compared to Belgium is Paris really the city of fashion! And besides that it has a bunch of art hidden there!
How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?
Belgium is a land with two languages. People here look strange at us when we wear a maxi skirt, or even when we are just a little dressed up differently. Here are a amazing designers in Antwerp, but the streets, in our opinion, are not often filled with fashion. We hope that fashion bloggers in Belgium help the street fashion grow.
What message do you hope to send to your readers?
That they stay true to themselves, dream big, stay fashionable, and just enjoy life!
